Our son is responding really well to a Glutamate Free regime. It's tough to stick to and also quite expensive. It is a long and hard task to use 'trial and observe' methods at home and so we need a scientific, non-intrusive and safe method of identifying the most problematic foods that he should avoid.
We asked our GP for help, but he is unable to identify such tests for allergies and intolerances to glutamate as it isn't in his book. We have thought of asking for tests for the many things we think contain glutamate, starting with gluten, casein, yeast extract, tomato and so on, but we need expert and enthusiastic help in this and our GP seems uable to provide it in this instance.. We don't believe that we should have to go outside of the Health Service to do this. Can someone offer information as to what can be done? We live near Liverpool in NW UK.
